Adolescence is a time of rapid change and development for boys and girls. They go through a metamorphosis and transition from being children to being adults. These youngsters struggle to individuate from their families of origin, and struggle to define their own identity. And these struggles often leave adolescents feeling overwhelmed, lost, and confused. Some adolescents act out. And some experience severe depression and anxiety. In my work with adolescents, I offer them a safe and nurturing environment for self-exploration. I assist them in processing their feelings, and encourage them to think for themselves. They learn in therapy to own who they truly are, and subsequently learn how to be authentic and real.
